Whether you're a seasoned golfer or an eager beginner, you'll find the variety of holes at Half Moon Bay interesting and challenging. We have a mix of long, clear fairways where you can really open up, plus some tighter layouts that demand respect and punish over-confidence.

HMBGC is quite busy all year round, so you should always plan ahead and book a tee time. This is especially important if you require a motorized golf cart or hire clubs. Visitor/social access to the course is generally available seven days a week, though some days there might only be 9-hole tee times available.

You should check the Golf Bookings page for an approximate schedule and then follow the prompts to lock-in a tee time.

Saturday and Wednesday are our largest competition fields, so visitor access is limited to players with a current AGU handicap, but only AFTER our Members have had a chance to make their bookings. Please call the Golf Shop to be added to our waitlist.

If you're looking for a Social game on a Saturday, there are limited times available in the afternoon, or you can book one of our Indoor Golf Simulators, and play one of the 300 international courses!

Essential Information for Organisers

Please make sure all players in your group know to turn up early... you should check-in at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tee time... to organise green fees, hire carts and equipment, drinks and snacks.

Anyone using the golf course... both players and spectators... should be dressed appropriately. All players must have their own set of clubs. We recommend hats and sunscreen all year round.

Please ensure all players understand the acceptable behaviour and basic ettiquette of the game as outlined below. In short, if you want to come out, use our facilities, enjoy a few drinks and have a fun day, we look forward to seeing you.

But if anyone in your group mistreats our course, or damages our equipment, or interfers with our other golfers, your entire group will be asked to leave. No warnings. No refunds.

Please ensure you keep up with the group in front. If you are struggling to do that, please call faster groups through. If you have beginners in the group, consider playing an ambrose format, where you all hit, then choose the best shot and all hit from there.

Please be considerate of other groups, especially around tees and greens, and keep the noise to a conversational level.

Do not hit until the group in front is safely out of range. If a stray ball is headed towards another group, or disappearing to another fairway, always call FORE loudly... and keep calling until you see them react.

All players must carry a sand bucket and fill your divots. Please repair your pitch marks on the greens. And always rake the bunkers once you're out, to leave them ready for the players behind you.

Men:
  • Collared Shirt is required.
  • No work shorts
  • Socks and enclosed footwear
Women:

Carts are very expensive to repair and the hirer will be liable for any damage.

Anyone operating a golf cart must have a full drivers license. Children must not be allowed to operate the cart. And no more than two people are allowed in the cart, and anyone travelling on the cart must be seated inside the cart.

Please keep the golf carts outside the Blue Line surrounding all greens. If there is no line visible, please stay at least 10 metres away from the greens and well away from the tees as well.

The entire HMBGC is deemed licenced premises so BYO alcohol is strictly prohibited. If you bring alcohol onto the course it will be confiscated and your entire group will be asked to leave. No warnings. No refunds.
